Videos & Multimedia

Check out the testimonials of people who have been involved with the WUSC Student Refugee Program over the years or simply see the power of girls to change the world. Add your own story. Tell us how the chance to pursue an education has changed your life.

So grab your webcam, cell phone camera, iPhone, Blackberry and share your experience us. Don’t worry about video quality or camera technique; it’s the message that matters!

What should I say in the video?
Education is a powerful tool and without it few of us would reach our full potential.

We invite you to share your own story or perspective on how the opportunity to pursue and education has changed your own life.

Begin the video by stating your name followed by your support for the campaign. E.g. “Hello I’m ________ and I support WUSC’s Shine a Light campaign because…”

Then share your own perspective/story – we would like to focus on education as a powerful agent of change.

Former sponsored students: you could share the impact the SRP has had on your life. How did the chance to pursue your studies contribute to where you are today?

Members of a sponsoring group: you could share how the SRP has increased your knowledge and awareness of various development issues. What is the power of both formal and non-formal education and what have you learned from these experiences?

Friends of WUSC: you could share your connection/involvement with the program and share your perspective on the power of education.

Anyone else who believes in the cause of providing girls with educational opportunities: even if this is the first time you have heard about WUSC, join us in shining a light on the challenges facing refugee girls. Give us your personal thoughts on this issue or how education has changed your life.

End the video by encouraging others to support the campaign – by donating, sending the campaign link to friends and family, or asking others to share their stories and add a testimonial.

Some tips:

Keep it short (around 1 minute or so).
Keep it clean. No profanity or abusive language.
Keep it personal. We want to hear your story and inspire others to support our cause, so feel free to share personal stories.

How do I add my own video?
There are two ways you can add your video to our campaign.

Upload your own video

If you are already a member on Youtube you can add your video yourself by posting it as a “Video Response” to our original campaign video. This will link all of our great testimonials together.

Log into Youtube. If you don’t have an account already, do that first (it will only take a couple of minutes).

Go to the Youtube page where we have posted our original campaign video. Click here.

Under "Comments and Responses" click on "Post a video response" or click here.

You now have 3 options:

Record a video:

Use your webcam to record your video and automatically post it as a Video Response.

Upload a video:

If you have already recorded the video but it is not uploaded to Youtube yet, choose this option.

Choose a video:

Use this option if you have already uploaded your video but simply just want to post it as a video response.

Congrats, you’re done. The video will appear shortly in our list for everyone to see!

Let us upload your video for you

Want us to do the work for you?

Simply record your video at home and then send it to mleclair@wusc.ca
(keeping in mind that the size should not exceed 100MB)

Consider sending the video through Sendspace which allows you to share large files with us.

We will do the leg work for you and upload your SRP testimonial to the WUSC-EUMC Youtube Channel.

If you need any help recording, uploading or sending your video please contact Mark Leclair at mleclair@wusc.ca
